When I was younger, I didn't appreciate Florida at all. It was too hot, too humid, too kitschy, too boring, not cultured enough, etc. I always planned on moving away when I was done with school. Then it so happened that I married a life-long Floridian who loves it here and hates cold weather. Our families are here, and so we're staying put. Over the last few years, I have come to love this place- really love it. It turns out there is so much beauty and culture and life here if you actually look for it. I have learned that I have a connection to the ocean, and can't image living far from it. It grounds me in a very real way, and I am so thankful to be able to drive to the beach whenever I want to.So for now, and probably for quite a long time, South Florida is my home- and I couldn't be happier about it.
